Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix 2026

The 2026 Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America delivered a dramatic six-hour battle for Action Express Racing, with the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R once again demonstrating front-running pace before its challenge ended in a late-race incident while fighting for a podium position.

Coming into Road America on the back of consecutive victories at Detroit and Watkins Glen, Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti arrived with strong momentum and the No. 31 firmly established as one of the benchmarks in the highly competitive GTP category. Throughout the six-hour race, the Cadillac remained in contention as changing strategies, multiple cautions and heavy multi-class traffic continually reshaped the order.

As the race moved into its final two hours, Aitken was at the center of the battle at the front. The No. 31 fought for the lead with the No. 10 Cadillac and the factory Porsches, demonstrating the pace required to challenge for a third consecutive victory. Aitken briefly led before Filipe Albuquerque moved the No. 10 Cadillac ahead, leaving the Whelen entry fighting for a podium position as the race approached its conclusion.

The decisive moment came on the final restart. Battling the No. 6 Porsche of Kévin Estre for second place, Aitken was involved in contact entering Turn 1 that sent both cars into the tire barriers and brought out the caution under which the race ultimately finished. Both drivers emerged safely from the incident. IMSA subsequently assessed Estre a penalty in connection with the collision.

Although the result did not reflect the performance of the No. 31, Road America provided further evidence of the strength of the Action Express Racing program. The Cadillac was again capable of racing at the front throughout a demanding endurance event and remained in contention for a podium until the final moments.

After an exceptional run of results through the opening part of 2026, the focus remains firmly on the bigger picture: maintaining the speed, consistency and execution that have placed the No. 31 at the heart of the IMSA GTP championship fight.
