Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach 2025

At the sun-soaked 2025 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach – held on the tight and technical street circuit through downtown Long Beach, California – the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R from Action Express Racing delivered a strong and spirited performance in a highly competitive sprint race on April 12.
Starting from seventh on the GTP grid, the No. 31 Cadillac – driven by Jack Aitken and Earl Bamber – displayed race pace and composure from the moment the lights went out. In a field where mere tenths separated the top prototype runners in qualifying, the team focused on consistency through traffic and maximising every lap on the demanding 1.968-mile street course.
Throughout the 100-minute race, the Action Express crew kept the Whelen Cadillac competitive inside the front half of the GTP field, managing tire wear, navigating traffic efficiently and reacting to the full-course cautions that typify street circuit racing. As the race progressed, the No. 31 fought hard to advance — showing clean execution through pit stops and strong racecraft under pressure from rival prototypes.
When the checkered flag fell, the No. 31 Cadillac crossed the line in fourth place overall – a solid result on a street circuit that can be unforgiving and chaotic – and comfortably the highest-finishing Cadillac entry on the day. It was a performance that underscored the team’s resilience and pace, especially given the tight margins and strategic complexity of sprint prototype competition.
The overall class win at Long Beach went to the No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963, which continued its undefeated run with a third consecutive victory to open the season. Nevertheless, the strong result from the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac provided Action Express Racing with valuable championship points and confidence as the team moved forward through the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
