2016 Sunoco Whelen Challenge Champion Jonny Adam will compete in the No. 31 Whelen/Team Fox Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype in the 53rd annual Rolex 24 At Daytona in January 2016. The talented Scot has had a bumper year for driving in Europe, where not only was he crowned the Sunoco Whelen Challenge Winner, but he also won the 2015 British GT3 Champion at Donington and won the Britcar 24 hour race this year, with the same Beechdean team – what a year!

Jonny Adam started his racing career as a youngster in karting back in 1995 where he spent a few years perfecting his skills. In 2003 he progressed onto cars, where he continued his success and went on to win the Renault Clio Championship in 2005. In 2009 Adam drove in the British Touring Car Championship where he finished 8th and was awarded the ‘top rookie’ trophy! Then In 2011 Jonny starting racing the Beechdean British GT Team in a partnership which has progressively enhanced his skills and career and has now seen him win the 2015 British GT3 Championship, and the 2016 Sunoco Whelen Challenge too!

Jonny is no stranger to the 24-hour racing, but to get the opportunity to drive in the Rolex 24 At Daytona in a Daytona Prototype is an exciting prospect for the Aston Martin Racing Factory driver. Jonny Adam has also driven in the World Endurance Championship, European LeMans Series, Blancpain Endurance Series, Nurburgring 24 Hour and Dubai 24 Hour. Jonny also raced at the Rolex 24 At Daytona back in 2014 when a late call-up saw him head stateside to drive the #009 V12 Vantage in the GTD class with the TRG Aston Martin Racing Team.

Jonny Adam 2016 Sunoco Whelen Challenge Winner said about his prize drive: “I am delighted to win the Sunoco Whelen Challenge and can’t wait to drive the Action Express Whelen sponsored Daytona Prototype. It will be a new experience for me compared to my Aston Martin Racing role, but with a top team, and experienced team mates the goal is to have a great show in the Rolex 24 At Daytona for all involved”.
